Enjoy an excerpt:

The wave was perhaps the greatest in height they’d ever seen. Later, John was sure they’d recount it as being of tidal proportions, hyperbolic as they always were when it came to surfing expeditions. But in truth, he wasn’t even sure how to approach its vastness; he caught the edge of the big, rolling force in an awkward, unbalanced maneuver, yet he evened himself out at once, rising up into a standing position, and coming through the tube with precision.

Zak waited for John to reach their squatting spot once again, then greeted him with a seated bow from atop his board. “Nicely done. But that was great luck, catching a swell that size. Next one’s mine.”

They didn’t have to wait long. The pair ignored a series of smaller waves that rolled past (though, by a normal day’s standards, they would have been worth riding), until a massive upsurge formed within the surf, collecting all of the surrounding water to join its force. Zak was gone before John could give him any encouragement.

John held up his unit, readying its hologramera to capture Zak’s performance. He pressed “record,” but then, a loud beep emanated from underneath him, coming from his surfboard. The sonar screen at the top of his board lit up, depicting a large incoming vessel approaching Zak’s position. John looked up again, but noticed that Zak was alone - there were no other surfers or boats nearby.

Uriel's Fall, Ubiquity 1 - Loralie Hall

Uriel's Fall
(Ubiquity Series, book #1)
by Loralie Hall

Blurb:
Ronnie has the job any entry-level angel or demon would sell their soul for—she’s a retrieval analyst for the largest search engine in the world. Ubiquity is a joint initiative between heaven and hell. Because what better way to track all of humanity’s secrets, both good and bad, than direct access to their web browsing habits?

She might appreciate the position a little more if a) she could remember anything about her life before she started working at Ubiquity, b) the damned voice in her head would just shut up already, and c) her boss weren’t a complete control freak.

As she searches for solutions to the first two issues, and hopes the third will work itself out in performance reviews, she uncovers more petty backstabbing than an episode of Real Housewives, and a conspiracy as old as Lucifer’s descent from heaven. On top of all that, if she forgets the cover sheet on her TPS report one more time, she’s absolutely going on final written warning.

Now Ronnie’s struggling to keep her sanity and job, while stopping the voice in her head from stealing her life. She almost misses the boredom of retrieval analysis at Ubiquity.

Excerpt

“I’m wounded you didn’t remember me,” Gabe’s low voice rumbled against my
neck as his chest pressed into my back. His hand rested at my hip, holding me
close.

Every new touch sent a jolt of desire pulsing through my veins. How could I have forgotten something that felt like this? I leaned back into him, memorizing the
texture of his shirt against my bare shoulder blades.

“If I had a choice, you’d be the last thing I forgot.” Why had I said that? This
moment, each sensation, it was all incredible, but there was a lot implied in
that statement.

“Hmm…” The vibration tickled my skin. “You do have a choice.”

“If that’s true, why hasn’t someone told me?”

His hand slid over my tank top and rested on my stomach. “I’m telling you now.”

“You could have told me before.”

“I didn’t feel like I had your full attention.” His fingers wrapped around my wrist,
and he spun me to face him. Dark hair, clean-shaven, it was Michael—not Gabe—
who stared back.

He rested a hand on the small of my back, the other cupping my cheek. “I swore
I would move mountains for you if I had to.” His mouth sought mine, and the
feather light kiss sent a rush of euphoria through me. It was gentle, undemanding,
and all-consuming.

He broke away enough to trace his thumb over my lips. Each new caress
summoned a pleasant tingle under my skin. His tone was low and kind. “That I
would surrender everything—eternity, glory, all of it—for you.”

His voice shifted to a quiet snarl. “I lied.”

Author’s bio: Izabel (Izi) Vasileva was born Apr 1991 in Bulgaria, where she grew up surrounded by loving friends and family, who have always encouraged her to follow her dreams and always supported her decision despite the fact how crazy they were sometimes. At the age of 18 she decided to move to UK to study and follow her dreams, that’s when a lot of people she knew told her ‘You can’t do it.’. Izi as stubborn as she stood her ground and told them ‘Just watch me.’, which is what she says every time someone doubts her abilities. In 2009 she moved to Canterbury, where on her own she faced the challenges of being independent and living away from home. She learned quickly to adapt and made many new friends along the way. Books have been a passion of hers for a while. She likes to get lost between the pages of a good fiction. Her favorites are YA novel and the very first book that captured her attention completely was Twilight. After some unfortunate events with one of her friends, Izi finally decided to put the idea, which has been in her head for couple of months, on paper. That’s how Izi’s first novel The Prison of Oblivion was born. The author loves expressing her feeling through her stories, but fully realizes that she needs to write more and learn more about writing before she becomes one of the authors, who readers truly admire. To all the readers the author says ‘If you like fiction and YA novel, give me a chance.’.   DreamCastizi3 Author Giveaway Izi Vasileva

Alexandra Fry, Private Eye: Tutankhamun's Gift - Angella Graff

This post is part of a book blast organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Enter the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win a $10 Amazon/BN gift card. Click the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Now an 8th grader and the senior of Sage Brush Middle School, Alexandra Fry is looking forward to having a nice, calm, mystery-free year. But her hopes are dashed when she's visited by none other than the famous boy Pharaoh, Tutankhamun who has a very special request: to find the carved jade crocodile that once belonged to the mummy of his unborn child. With a fight brewing between Alexandra and her two best friends, Penelope and Jack, this case won't be as easy as it seems.

New friends, a first crush, and a new threat from the spirit world, Alexandra must use everything she's learned to uncover the mysteries in this case. Who is the bad guy this time? Who can she trust? And above all, what is the Shadow Man?

It's up to Alexandra, her friends, and possible new allies to save the day in the thrilling new tale of Alexandra Fry, Private Eye.

Enjoy an excerpt:

“No!” I said, feeling angry now. “I mean, I don’t agree with them keeping it from you. I was really upset when I found out and I told your mom I didn’t want to do it, but she begged me. But Penelope, I like your mom, and so does my dad. They make each other happy, and I thought you could be happy for them.”

“I can’t even believe I’m hearing this. How can you take their side over mine!”

“Maybe because you’re being totally unreasonable!” I was frustrated and the words slipped out before I even realized I’d said them. I instantly regretted it.

Going pale, Penelope narrowed her eyes and took three steps back. “Maybe I am,” she said, her voice low and furious. “And maybe you and I aren’t friends anymore.” She stormed toward the door, but before she opened it, she turned back to me. “And maybe don’t expect me to save your stupid butt again next time some crazy person tries to kill you. It’s no wonder Jack’s using you for adventure. It’s all you’re good for.” With that, she went in, slamming the door behind her.

Her last words hit me like a blow to the gut. Tears instantly sprang into my eyes and I sat down right in the middle of the grass. How did it get so messed up? For the first time in my life, I’d had friends, friends who knew my secrets and accepted me for them. Friends who cared, who were there for me. Then one small mistake and everything fell apart.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Publishing Date: February 26th 2013
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Rating: 5/5 stars

Book Description:
Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.

Park... He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.

My Review:
I read this book after hearing a lot of hype about this book and Rowell’s other book fangirl. This book made me long for a cute relationship like that of Eleanor and Park.

Eleanor and Park is set in modern time in a normal city. This story is about two teenagers who go to school and about how they fall in love. Eleanor lives in a family with three siblings, her mother has remarried and the man gets very angry and violent. Park on the other hand has one sibling, a father with high standards of his son, and his mother is a Korean beautician. Eleanor meets Park on her first day at her new school. At first Eleanor and Park don’t get on but as the story rolls on they become very close.

Eleanor is one of the main characters, she goes to a new high school where she is becomes apart of the lower class in the social ladder. Eleanor comes from a poor family where they have barely enough money to be putting food on their table. Eleanor is very concealed girl who doesn’t share her thoughts with anyone, but at the same time she is very strong and will stand for anything she believes.

Park is the kind of kid who caves in on peer pressure and struggles to stand for what he believes if people in the higher class of the social ladder don’t agree with it. Park at first doesn’t like Eleanor as the ‘popular’ kids don’t accept her, but later on in the story he develops into someone who doesn’t care what the ‘popular’ people think and becomes Eleanor’s best friend.

Rowell really captured young love in the story and how teenagers know how to love and take risks when it comes to love. This story is one of the most impacting books that took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I recommended this book to all my reading buddies and now recommend it to you!

-Happy Readings

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee

Publishing date: May 21st 2011
Publisher: Feral Dream
Rating: 5/5 stars

Book Description:
It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

My Review:
I received this book for my birthday from my best friend and until then I hadn’t heard about it. My friend who gave it to me hadn’t read it but thought it looked interesting and decided I could be her experiment guinea pig! I read it pretty much as soon as I got it and could not put it down! I was so engulfed into the book and intrigued by the plot and the characters.

Angelfall is set in a post-apocalyptic world where there is an on going war between humans and angels. The angels are depicted as bad guys in this story and they make the humans live in fear afraid to leave their houses. The adventure first starts when Penryn, her mother and her little sister Paige (who is crippled) are out at night when they come across a group of angels cutting off another angels wings. Penryn decided to help the angel to allow her mother and sister to run away but whilst doing this her little sister Paige is taken by one of the angel and her mother escapes. Raffe the angel who she helped save agreed to help Penryn find her sister.

Penryn is the main character who we follow around and boy do you fall in love with her. She is so love able, you love the way she can fight and kick- ass, she is so determined and never losses sight of her goal. Her sister is in a wheelchair, her mother has schizophrenia and her father left them. These events have helped her grow her character and made her very strong and independent.

Raffe the angel helps Penryn on her quest and is a very mysterious character. We don’t know pretty much anything about his past and it enjoyably annoyed me that we dont know anything he felt or was thinking. He like Penryn is a very determined character as he could only think about getting his wings back and on.

There wasn’t much romance in this story but it shows mainly at the end. The romance is barley if there at the beginning and as the story moves on it grows bigger and bigger. I think this just shows Penryn’s and Raffe’s determination for their goals and how they wouldn’t get distracted.

Ee has created an amazing magical world and has created a new and unique perception on angels. The ending aroused many different emotions in me and made me fall even more deeply in love with the novel.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

This book is a must read for everyone, DO NOT MISS OUT!!
